## **What is Wari in Maharashtra?**

Every year, lakhs of devotees embark on a soul-stirring pilgrimage called **Wari**—a centuries-old tradition that celebrates devotion to **Lord Vitthal (Pandurang)** of Pandharpur. As a Warkari myself, I can tell you that this isn’t just a journey; it’s a moving festival of faith, unity, and bhakti.

If you’ve ever wondered—**What is the meaning of Wari? What does Wari stand for?**—it’s simple: **Wari (वारी)** means an annual pilgrimage where devotees (Warkaris) walk hundreds of kilometers, singing **abhangas** (devotional songs) of **Sant Tukaram** and **Sant Dnyaneshwar**, to reach Pandharpur on **Ashadhi Ekadashi**. And in **2025**, this divine journey begins soon!
